1898 - Imperialistic American forces land in Negros, Philippines; the cantonal government established in Bacolod during the revolution against Spain will soon fall, with Juan Anacleto Araneta urging his comrades to surrender to the US.

1612 - Neptune is observed for the first time by astronomer Galileo Galilee who wrongly catalogs it not as a planet but as a fixed star.

1768 - King Taksin is crowned following his pursuit of the liberation of Siam (Thailand) from Burmese occupation.

1895 - The first commercial movie is screened at the Grand Cafe in Paris, France.
